My name is Florence Nielsen.

Picture framing has been in my family for over 50 years.

It is a vocation and a passion that I want to share with you. I read History of Art at the CREPAC, Brussels. Later completed a certificate in Gilding and Restoration following which I joined Aterlier Cadr’in, Rhose-St-Genese, Belgium, established by my mother, a reputable framer, teacher of framing and early days mentor, with over 30 years of experience. To gain hands on experience of guilding, restoration and framing antiques, I had the opportunity to work with Henri Bolsens (Atelier Henri Bolsens, Brussels), antiques dealer, restorer and master gilder.

My first venture in freelance framing came by teaching a number of framers at the Atelier Passe Partout (Avenue August Rodin, Brussels).

Following this I moved to London where I opened a framing shop for an existing gallery in Sheen. The shop framed works for the Gallery but mostly for the general public. This was my first ‘independent’ venture.

In 2005, I decided to open Kew Frame, so I could develop my own style and techniques, learnt in Belgium, France and London.
